Humans Come To Earth: The Third Great Lesson

We journeyed back in time to when the first humans were figuring out how to survive on Earth.  We realized that humans had the same needs back then, but they did not have the same resources we did.  Through looking at artifacts and a slide show, we explored how humans discovered various resources like rocks, bones, antlers to create tools and to make things they needed like clothes and shelters.  Beyond having big brains, we learned the importance of the human hand and our opposable thumbs, which enable us to grasp and manipulate objects.  Our next Great Lesson will explore how writing was developed.

Afterwards, we used our very dextrous hands, with our opposable thumbs, to craft our own clay vessels using a coiling technique.  The children want to decorate them when they dry.
