Sense of smell and Library

Today we explored our sense of smell.  We've been learning about our senses through exploration of various centers. Today students worked with the Stinky Dinosaur Swamp. Smelling books as they read. Sorting animals and insects based on what body parts they use to smell and matching tea smells to the specific kind of tea. Ask your child about each of these centers and which one was their favourite!

Every Monday, students have the opportunity to go to the school library. They are independently choosing the books they want to bring home. If your child is bringing home books too difficult for their reading level (which most probably are) then please take time to read to your child. Even if you have chapter books, reading aloud a chapter a night helps students develop comprehension skills that they'll need once they start reading chapter books.
Students are going to start being independent with their library exchange. Each Monday, during afternoon work period, they'll have to return their books and get new ones. It'll be their responsibility to remember their book and exhange it.
